Who are you? Posted by Hello

Many people have asked if the old man was posing for me...the answer is no....if you look closely, you'll notice that he's not smiling but is infact frowning...the toothless face has nicely concealed his expression.
This was in Lalbagh..the camera shy Baba shooed me away when I approached him with a request for a photograph...I wanted a portrait very badly.. so kept behind him at a distance, looking for a chance. Finally he sat down in front of the Glass house fountain with his back to me...I metered.. f/5.6, 1/500..tip toed behind him and called " Baba..."...he turned, shielded his face from the sun and thankfully I heard the shutter close...said "shukriya" and walked away.

I changed the title from "Where are you" to "Who are you" after I read Harpreet's comment :.)

Seems like you asked him to pose. And it looks like he is hiding himself from the sun rather than looking for someone.

But the whole effect comes out nice, lovely pic.

I wouldn't take the shot if he said no. Better save your film/memory for a willing subject.

Like this guy very much for his amused look on his face (unintentional?). Looks really good in BW. Way to go, Sudarshan!

Harpreet: Thanks. I changed the title
Maran: There's not much fun in shooting only willing subjects isnt it. :)
Satz: Thanks
Suyog: I have written down a brief commentry. It was indeed unintentional. Thanks

interesting snap. am sure I would have differing reactions on different days. there is a lot to look at here. technically not your best, but certainly very thought provoking!

I like the fact that it provokes so many thoughts and questions in the very moment one looks at him!
A fabulous subject to sketch! Do I have your permission ?

It actually looks as if he's smiling! Maybe you changed something through the eye of the lense.

Excellent commentary to go alongwith now. You really dared. I take many street shots and I do not generally do this.

@Kushi: I prefer not to comment. Thanks
@Jess: Yeah...technically not good but this was the best I could do with very little preparation and his was a face I couldnt resist. Thanks.
@Pincushion: Surely you dont need my permission for that. Thanks
@Mermaid: You have been very kind with your words...thanks. Surely you would have come across patients without dentures ..look at his eyes..they tell a different story and that was no magic from my lens.
@Harpreet: Thanks. I inserted the commentry and changed the title after I read your comment. Usually non celebrities at most scold you if you take photographs without their permission and nothing beyond that. I think getting scolded is worth if you get priceless stuff like these.
@Kishori: I am smiling...no frowing like the old man with you
